Prof. K. Venkateswarlu joined the faculty of Microbiology, Sri Krishnadevaraya University as an
Associate Professor in 1985. Major research area is Environmental Biotechnology. He was
promoted as Professor in 1989. .He served as Head of the Department, Chairman Board of
Studies of Microbiology and Biotechnology, Dean Faculty of life sciences, Coordinator of
Biotechnology, and is now serving as Professor-in-Charge Biotechnology. Designed and
developed curriculum for credit-based semester system. For postdoctoral research, as a
Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellow he visited the University of Dundee, Dundee, Scotland,
United Kingdom, (1989), and as a NRC Visiting Senior Research Associate, jointly sponsored by
the National Research Council, USA and US Air Force, visited the Air Force Research Laboratory,
Tyndall Air Force Base Florida, USA during 1995-1997 and 2002-2003. He was the recipient of
AP University Meritorious Teacher’s Award in 2005. He was elected as a Fellow of the National
Academy of Agricultural Sciences (FNAAS), and a Fellow of the Association of Microbiologists of
India (FAMI) in 2008 for excellence in microbial research, teaching and technology development.
He is the first Professor in the State to be honored with both the fellowships. Prof. Venkateswarlu
was an editor of ‘Indian Journal of Microbiology’, and an external member of BOS in many other
Universities. He published 102 Research papers in National and International journals. The
cumulative impact factor of the journals in which he published is 103.44, and the total number of
citations of his publications is 568. He is a Life Member of the Association of Microbiologists of
India and was a Member of the American Society for Microbiology. As a Convenor of the
committee constituted by the APSCHE, he developed the model curriculum for B.Sc. Microbiology
in 2008. |

Dr. D. Muralidhara Rao joined the Department as Teaching Assistant in 2000, and was
selected as an Assistant Professor in 2005. His research interests include Environmental
Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, and Computational Biology. He published 30
research papers in reputed journals, and has two books to his credit. The cumulativeimpact
factor of the journals in which he published is 4 and the total number of citations of his
publications is 7. He was a Visiting Fellow of JNCASR, Bangalore. He is serving as Deputy
Warden for Men’s Hostel, and NSS Program Officer of the University College. He is a Life
Member of the Biotech Research Society of India. |

| Dr. S. ANITHA, M.Sc., Ph.D. |

Dr. S. Anitha joined the Department as an Assistant Professor in 2005. Her
research interest is Plant and Environmental Biotechnology. She published seven
papers in reputed Journals. She worked as Deputy Warden for Women’s Hostels
in the University College. |
