Prof. V.V.N. RAJENDRA PRASAD, PhD, Dip Phon, PGDTE
Prof VVN Rajendra Prasad, who was appointed Lecturer in English in 1977, is the first of the alumni of the Department who joined the English faculty. Since joining the University, he has successfully shaped his identity as a teacher and researcher in two areas of study: 1. the Twentieth Century Novel, and 2. the English Language. His PhD is on the Indian English Novel, and when it was brought out in a book form, it was well received by both students and teachers of the subject. His consistent pursuit of grammar teaching enabled him to bring out a textbook on English grammar, usage, and composition. He has so far organized one UGC-Sponsored Refresher Course for University and College Teachers and two UGCsponsored national seminars on English Language Teaching. He is a member of the External Faculty of the Department of Distance Education, The EFL University, Hyderabad. He delivered lectures at many Refresher Courses and was a Resource Person at the “Train the Trainer” Programmes organized by Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education for the English teachers of undergraduate courses.

Prof. P.OBULA REDDY
Prof. P.OBULA REDDY is also an alumnus of the Department. He joined the Department in 1989 after a decade’s service at KSRM College of Engineering, Kadapa. He worked on the short stories of Katherine Mansfield for his PhD and later specialized in Comparative Literature and Indian Literature in Translation for teaching and research. He has published many research articles in books and journals and has delivered lectures at seminars, conferences, and UGCSponsored Refresher Courses. Recently, he has received financial support from the UGC for a Major Research Project on Indian Drama. Yoga and naturopathy are his forte. He conducts workshops in yoga in schools, colleges, and universities as an extension activity for promoting the concept of positive health without medicine.
