Prof. M.K. VENKATESWARLU, M.Sc., Ph.D., FNAAS, FAMI,
Prof. K. Venkateswarlu joined the faculty of Microbiology, Sri Krishnadevaraya University as an Associate
Professor in 1985. Major research area is Environmental Biotechnology. He was promoted as Professor in
1989. .He served as Head of the Department, Chairman Board of Studies of Microbiology and
Biotechnology, Dean Faculty of life sciences, Coordinator of Biotechnology, and is now serving as Professorin-
Charge Biotechnology. Designed and developed curriculum for credit-based semester system. For
postdoctoral research, as a Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellow he visited the University of Dundee,
Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom, (1989), and as a NRC Visiting Senior Research Associate, jointly
sponsored by the National Research Council, USA and US Air Force, visited the Air Force Research
Laboratory, Tyndall Air Force Base Florida, USA during 1995-1997 and 2002-2003. He was the recipient of
AP University Meritorious Teacher’s Award in 2005. He was elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of
Agricultural Sciences (FNAAS), and a Fellow of the Association of Microbiologists of India (FAMI) in 2008 for
excellence in microbial research, teaching and technology development. He is the first Professor in the State
to be honored with both the fellowships. Prof. Venkateswarlu was an editor of ‘Indian Journal of
Microbiology’, and an external member of BOS in many other Universities. He published 102 Research
papers in National and International journals. The cumulative impact factor of the journals in which he
published is 103.44, and the total number of citations of his publications is 568. He is a Life Member of the
Association of Microbiologists of India and was a Member of the American Society for Microbiology. As a
Convenor of the committee constituted by the APSCHE, he developed the model curriculum for B.Sc.
Microbiology in 2008.

Prof. P.B.B.N. Charyulu joined as Lecturer in the Department in 1989. He was promoted as Associate
Professor in 1998 and as Professor in 2006. He was awarded French Government Post Doctoral Fellowship.
Served as Head of the Department and currently serving as Chairman, Board of Studies. Published 32
research papers in national and international journals, completed one minor research project (UGC),
participated in 4 International and 9 national Conferences, guided 5 Ph.Ds and 7 M.Phils. Major research
interests: Biofertilizers, Plant-Microbe Interactions.

Prof. B. RAJASEKHAR REDDY, M.Sc., Ph.D
Prof. B. Rajasekhar Reddy joined as Lecturer in the Department in 1989. He was promoted as Associate
Professor in 1998 and as Professor in 2006. Currently, he is serving as Head of the Department. He was
awarded UGC Career Award for Young Teacher (1994-1998) and Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship
(1991-1992). He published 35 research papers in national and international journals, completed one major
research project (UGC) and has another on-going major research project (UGC), invited to participate in
NMITLI Project “Conversion of cellulose into sugars and ethanol” sponsored by CSIR, participated in 4
International and 15 National Conferences and guided 5 Ph.Ds and 5 M.Phils. He organized one international
workshop. Major research interests include Pesticide- Microbiology, biodegradation of dyes, and Microbial
production of enzymes.
