XV   Convocation Notification

   

           

The Fifteenth CONVOCATION of Sri Krishnadevaraya University for conferring Degrees / Diplomas on successful candidates in RESEARCH, POSTGRADUATION (including those under the Distance Education mode), PROFESSIONAL COURSES, DIPLOMA AND UNDERGRADUATE COURSES offered by the University will be held shortly. The exact date of the CONVOCATION will be announced later. The application form for the Convocation and information relating to it can be downloaded from the University WEBSITE www.skuniversity.org Candidates who qualified themselves on or before 31-12-2006 alone are eligible to apply. The degrees of ALL UNDERGRADUATE courses including PROFESSIONAL Courses and DIPLOMA COURSES, and also the Degrees of Distance Education and Private Study candidates, will be awarded “IN ABSENTIA” only. Other eligible candidates can apply for the Convocation  IN PERSON or  IN ABSENTIA. Applications for admission to the Convocation (IN PERSON / IN ABSENTIA) (along with prescribed fee in the form of a demand draft drawn in favour of “The Registrar, S.K.University, Anantapur–515 055, A.P., India”) should be sent by REGISTERED POST / COURIER SERVICE on or before 15-03-2008 to the following Officers of the University :

Instructions to Candidates taking the Degree in Person

  1. Candidates attending the Convocation for taking their degrees must be properly and decently dressed.
  2. Every candidate shall wear the gown and hood prescribed for his degree and shall occupy the seat allotted to him in the Auditorium.
  3. Every candidate will be given in advance the diploma to which he is entitled. Before receiving his diploma he shall sign his name on a slip of paper as a token of his have received his diploma.
  4. When the procession of the Chancellor and the Members of the Executive Council enters the Auditorium, all candidates shall rise from their seats and keep standing until the Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor and the Members of the Executive Council have taken their seats on the dais.
  5. After all are seated, the Chancellor will put a few questions to the candidates. The first three questions are intended for all candidates. At the end of each question, all candidates shall in one voice, clearly and audibly say “I do promise”.
  6. After the first three questions are put, all candidates of non-formal Degrees shall resume their seats. Candidates for the Professional Degrees of Commerce, Management, Library Science and Law shall remain standing. Then the Chancellor will put one question to them and they shall, in one voice, clearly and audibly say “I do promise”.
  7. Then the Chancellor shall say: “Let the candidates be now presented”.
  8. The recipients of Prizes and Medals will be presented to the Chancellor by the respective Dean of the Faculties or by the Members of the Executive Council.
  9. Only recipients of the Ph.D. Degrees and the recipients of Medals and Prizes will be  presented to the Chancellor. There will be no individual presentation of other candidates.
  10. As the names of the recipients of Ph.D. degrees, Medals and Prizes are called out, they shall, one after the other, ascend the dais by the steps on the left, proceed to the front of the Chancellor who would be sitting or standing according to his convenience, bow to him, descend the dais by the steps on the right and return to their allotted seats.
  11. When the candidates for the particular degree are being presented, they shall all stand up in a body and remain standing till the Chancellor admits them to that degree.
  12. After the close of the Convocation, the National Anthem will be played. All the candidates shall stand up, removing their academic caps, if they are wearing any. They shall continue to remain standing till the Chancellor and others descend the dais and march away in a procession to the small pandal.
  13. Academic robes prescribed for the several degrees are as hereunder:

            Candidates should make their own arrangements to obtain academic robes. The University will try to arrange for one or two robes suppliers being present at the Campus on the Convocation day and to make available the required robes for the candidates.
